Question #1:
SS Disability: denied 12 years ago, worked 10 years, now in bad shape?
This is long, but I really need help. After a car accident 12 years ago I was denied SS Disability. (2 ruptured discs etc.) I did not pursue the SSDI. I worked through the pain, worked for the last 10 years (always in pain, but functioning) going from machinist to truck driver to dispatcher. My back pain was slowly getting worse. My last two jobs closed their doors (Michigan economy) and I collected unemployment and went to school to become a certified Pharmacy tech. (done with classes, just have to schedule test). My unemployment has run out. No income. I do get food stamps. I have sold everything I have of value. I own my home but owe about what I could sell it for. I also have a car I am making payments on.
I have missed several classes due to pain, went to the Dr. and had an MRI and an EMG. There is much more damage now. 3 ruptured disks, effacement between 4 vertebras, impingement that is pinching nerves, and arthritis in those disks and the 2 above and below. No reflexes in both legs now and right leg “gives out” (dead leg/doesn’t listen to my brain). Dr. says nerve damage and I need surgery NOW (LOL, No $$$ and no insurance) I am trying to buy time with spinal epidural shots. (One so far, not fun). The muscle relaxers leave me pretty loopy.
I am 45, widowed (husband was 61) and need to get on SSDI badly. I owe $3000. for the tests and I put the epidural on a credit card ($575 each, may need 3 total) No children at home so no Medicare/Medicaid.
I am hoping to find a Pharmacy that will hire me part time/flex time where I can sit a bit, stand a bit, etc… (A lot to ask, I know)
Should I hire a lawyer right off the bat or try to do it myself, get denied then get a lawyer? What are my chances of getting SSDI? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Question #8:
What Company Pays The Most For Truck Drivers In The GTA?
I have my A-Z License and I am searching for a new Job in the GTAQuestion #9:
Heres the story, let me know what you think.?
Who's right...My husbands truck is in the shop so I have been letting, or not "letting" b/c he is my husband ...but I have a work car so he's been driving my SUV while he is out of a truck. He is in between jobs and he and my son were going to a neighbors house...he walked around the car. Put our son in the carseat (car is in garage) he then walks around the back of the car...gets in the driver seat. Cranks up the car and swings the back of my SUV right into the back/ side of my work car. Leaving scuffs pretty noticable on both. Then comes flying into the house saying "get out here, get out here right now...THIS IS WHY YOU DON'T PARK A CAR LIKE THIS, BLAH BLAH BLAH..." Screaming at me b/c its MY fault for parking behind him. (Excuse me...I thought it was ok. I was on a late lunchbreak from work also and starving ) I also was always taught to look in mirrors before backing out...So, do you think behavior like this is out of line? Not like I meant to park it there so I could F up both my work car and my personal car. I'm the one at a loss here. Not to mention what my boss is going to say!!!!
Yea..I'm not saying I want to be right. I'm just saying that this shouldn't be how marriages solve problems. Fighting b/c someone shouldn't have parked a car here when he obviously wasn't looking to see what was behind him.
Question #10:
UPS package handler and driving UPS truck?
There is a job opening to be a package handler at the UPS warehouse close to where I live and I was curious if anyone could give me an idea of how long it takes to go from part time package handler to full time or even get promoted to the next level. I realize this is a very vague question, I was just looking for a ball park estimate or was wondering if anyone could share there story. Also, around how long and what requirements are there to become a UPS driver. Some companies require you be a minimum of 25 years old, does this apply to UPS? Really just any information anyone can give about working in the UPS warehouse or being a UPS driver would be greatly appreciated.
Question #11:
I am going back to school, any suggestions how adjust to mommy life, school and work?
I have a 9 month old and I am currently going back to school to finish getting my degree. I also work a fulltime job and my fiance is a truck driver so he is hardly home. Im a little bit scared because I definitly have to prioritize a lot differently than I used to! I am actually afraid of just being a failure to be honest. Does any moms out there go to school, work, and raise a family as well. If so, how do you maintain? My son goes to daycare while I work
Question #12:
should i be a truck driver?
i know its hard job but its a dream i haveQuestion #13:
Job on the Railway or truck driver?
whats better, becoming a truck driver or working on the railway (could be anything, train driver, signal ling ETC.)Question #14:
How can I make an extra $100 or so a week?
I'm looking to make about $400 to $500 a month I'm 20 weeks pregnant right now and don't have an actual job as we just moved back to our home state, I thought about getting one but I realized it would be kind of hard with the economy now and to get a job I'd only be at for 3 months tops seems odd to me. Plus I've been rather uncomfortable throughout this so I'd be picky about what I -could- do with a real job. My husband recently had to make a change in jobs and he will only be making about 1200 to 1600 a month during his training period which will be about 2 months (he's going to be a commercial truck driver so he needs to get a lot of hours in with a mentor during which time he will be making less than he will once driving on his own).Well that is enough to pay for rent and food and we do have money in savings to get by but I just want to be sure we have enough to get our bills paid without having to drain our savings!
So what can a 5 month pregnant woman do around the house or neighborhood to earn 100 a week (or about 400-500 a month)?
No online surveys or free lancing crap please I've tried those..they aren't worth the time or effort for the little amount of money.
I considered babysitting but all of our friends and family live about 30-50 minutes from us now and we really don't know anyone out here, all the ads I've seen looking for someone want a permanent baby sitter rather than a when I need you type thing..and once it gets to about late November I don't really want to chance getting sick since I get sick easy (and I hear its even easier when you are pregnant!)
any suggestions? =/
Just a note I put this in the pregnancy category because I figure here people may have more experience than those who browse the business category..
We tend not to keep stuff around that we don't use or need so we don't really have anything to sell online..as for avon and those kinds of things I've had some friends and family who have tried that and didn't really make much..=/ so I don't know about that one.
And for reselling stuff, you kind of need money to make money with that..and I don't want to end up spending money (that we don't really have to spend right now in the first place) on things I end up not being able to sell =(
I'm so stuck right now..please don't think I'm shooting everything down I know it kind of seems this way but I appreciate the answers, keep 'em coming!
Question #15:
What is your opinion about modern day police?
Besides that fact that they go through the same brainwash training us vets did in boot-camp. (can't recognize someone is brainwashed, no problem, just listen to them use little catch phrases like "put some lead down-range" "take care of business" or "proceeded to" "subject instead of person" "perp instead of person" or anything else that takes away the humanity or individuality of a person. The worse is taking away their name and giving them a number. In the 1940's a nation got so good at it they just tattooed the number so the person felt their individuality was stripped forever.Anyway, growing up everyone always liked the friendly local PD. But these days things have changed. My ex-girlfriend called me (we're still friends) asking for bail as she got a DWI but was under the limit. I know her, she is lucky to finish 1 glass of wine. She never drinks beer, and definitely not mixed or liquor drinks. But she was treated like a criminal the moment she was pulled over. She asked why she was pulled over and told to "shut up and step outside the vehicle" (Who calls a car a "vehicle" that is not brainwashed anyway??) After talking to one of the officers, she admitted that my friend looked EXACTLY like that cop's ex-wife who just dragged him to court for under-payment of child support. I bet he must have felt great getting his revenge. Or I hope he did, because as a business owner I have enough legal budget left over that our firm is going to take this guy off the force by the time they get done with him. Glad I read the monthly newsletter that our civil firm now has a criminal division. the cop thought he was being safe by confiscating her cell phone and "accidentally dropped it into traffic, but not before she slipped the memory card into her make-shift side seat pocket. So she got the whole thing on audio. Needless to say that cop is gone. "Listen Bitch" doesn't sound like he's "protecting or serving" l r. But you hear her sober as can be asking her legal rights, and then refusing to speak without an attorney present. And no he did not conduct a field sobriety test or call in another officer to confirm it. But that isn't it, my uncle owns a franchise company which I own plenty of stock in because it is so good. He got pulled over in a brand new Doge Charger. Speeding? NOPE. Racing? Not him.. Road rage? Nope. The cop, who's force just got all new Doge Chargers wanted to look under his hood. Sure enough the difference between the PD standard V8 and his polished SRT-8 was what that cop was after. Only problem is my Uncle also is paranoid about his car getting stolen and has a GPS black-box. Because the cop had a little......stick envy, nailed him for "speeding", and "wreckless endangerment" which he went along for because he was smart enough to realize how this false stop probably will yield a healthy settlement this means for him. The good cop did his job recording times, etc, so when the black box was pulled, it showed my Uncle driving his car like an old man. (he really does) but from the point where he was apprehended suddenly seemed to go on a ride of it's own before it was impounded and waiting for the tow truck. (FYI the tow truck driver was asked three times to tell the police when he was 10 minutes out:::::::::no doubt to make sure the two kids playing cops could make the scene look normal again. But the black box showed 3 times accelerations equating to 0 to 60 in ~4.9 sec. Needless to say the city ended up paying off my uncle's car,AND his home by the time the attorneys got done.
So lesson lesened. Our population has x% of nutbags out there. The same minds who had they been around in the 1940's would have been the type who would have worked in those places, or who would have gone around collecting train faire in trade for 'early meal' prior to departing to their "new home" in Poland in 2-3 days. So Make Sure You ALways Travel With A Long Recording Device!!! It might just put the REAL criminal in jail and erase the recession for you!
Question #16:
question for truck drivers about dak report?
does anyone know how long a dak (driver services or whatever it's called now) report last? I got out of trucking in 2004 with a bad report due to quiting companies after 2 weeks. I had non trucking job for 6 years and I was thinking about getting back into driving again, but If dak is still active, then there's no use wasting my time.Question #17:

Alright, so I live in california now. Im realllly worried...can i turn my life around.. should i have hopes?
Well im 15(in a month) and my life pretty much sucks. Im basically poor. my parents have really bad credit so they cant even get me a good cellphone, i dont have a laptop, or an ipod(which i asked for for my birthday in september but i dont know if ill get it). im not high maintenence but all of my friends and everybody has all of these items. my mom doesnt even work because she got hurt and my dad is a truck driver... if my parents have bad credit does it make me have bad credit? im going to get a job, save my money and go to college, unlike them. is this possible? do you think i can turn my life around? i want to get my own cell phone plan when im 18 years old. should i have hope? :( - Karleigh@Bubble girl- not only do i not have the things i want, i dont have the things i NEED so thanks.
@whoever said ahaha your poor- thanks.
@ william garret- ive considered it.
@jamie- you make a good point. i would add all of the details about my "poorness" but then i would get made fun of even more, but thanks anyways for taking your time to answer? my real question was will i be able to get a good job and go to a good college even though my parents wouldnt have been able to. not if ill eventually be able to get all of those "toys." the only reason i need a cellphone is because im always stuck somewhere and have to ask other people to borrow their phone.whatever you guys dont care about my life so why do i tel lyou all.sdfbsdgfjksbdgna bye and by a good cellphone i mean not prepaid because it runs out every month and i dont have minutesleft bblah lvhalvha
Question #19:
What are your views on this marriage? Please help...?
My best friend just got married and her family does not respect her husband. He had two great jobs lined up and was suppose to start working at both of them, but instead his father talked him out of the jobs and doesnt not like his wife. The husband's father is a truck driver and he gave her husband an ultimatum to not work and to go on the road with him. The husband is not getting paid to go on the road he is there to kiss his dads a**. His father said he needed his son's help and basically has her husband feeling like if he didnt go on the road he was going to die because his health is bad. So her husband left and he is not doing anything to support his wife. He is not making money on the road to send to his wife to make sure she has food in her mouth and that bills are paid. She does not work because she has a small child to take care of so she lives at home with her parents and he does nothing for her. He left her behind because he feels obligated to his father. Isn't he obligated to take care of his wife first before his dad? Does this make him a bad husband? What should she do? He will be gone for 2 months and everyday it gets harder and harder for her and her son to live. He leaves her behind to tend to his father because he believes his dad might die, which I think is false. shouldn't she and the child come first before his dad? They were getting a new place together but were unable to because he decided not to work the jobs and to leave and go on the road. What should happen here? Does this make him less of a man and make him a chump?Question #20:
