Question #1:
Should we move to a new state?
My bf and I have been together for nearly 3 years and have lived together for 1. We live in NJ and the cost of living is ridiculous. We struggle every month to get by. He is 23 and I am 22. neither of use have finished school cause it is way to expensive here. Nj has one of the highest tuition rates in the country. He drives a small truck for a fish company, and I work as a patient care tech in a hospital.
He has family in florida and we have been talking about moving there. We are going there next month to visit for a week.
I have barely been on of NJ my whole life. Never had the means to go anywhere but im at a point in my life where i feel i need to make a major change and get out of this state.
WE struggle so much and never have any money left over to go out and enjoy ourselves with. We have no kids and i feel like I should be out enjoying being young while i still can.
I know anywhere we go we are still going to struggle. But I want to finish school but NJ is WAY to expensive... and florida's tuition is alot cheaper.
I come here for advice because everyone else just freaks out when i ask them saying they dont want me to go!
please and thank you

Question #6:
Do truck driving schools in Florida really help you find a job?
I am thinking about getting my CDL license, but wonder how slow the trucking business is because of the recession?Question #7:
How do you go about becoming a tow truck driver?
I am 26 and reside in Florida and North Carolina. I have had no accidents in the past 6 years and no tickets. I have no experience that even relates to driving commercially, but have always thought of being a tow truck driver. Any experience/stories of what its like to be a tow truck driver? Any advice on how one would go about training/schooling for this? Is this a satisfying job (pay, benefits, good work environment)? Anything you have to share is appreciated. Thanks! :)Question #8:
What do you think of the beginning of my story?
When we landed in the Seattle airport it was already raining, the perfect way to start a Saturday morning in August. My mom and I stepped off the plane onto the puddles in the concrete and just stood there for a moment, taking in our surroundings. It was all so different than the weather in Florida, where if it was raining, there was almost always a rainbow to be seen. Not here. There was no sun out, just grey clouds, and it sickened me to think that the last time I had seen the sun was when we boarded the plane in Miami.
Now we were on our way to some tiny Seattle suburb that I had already forgotten the name of. It was as if my mom threw a dart at our map to decide where we would move to. Oh well, I had no choice.
We took cover in the airport, waiting for my dad to come pick us up. Then finally, his old, worn down pickup truck pulled in. We ran outside, hoods of our coats pulled snugly over our heads.
“Hey dad,” I said as we got into the car. He smiled, but I don’t know how he could possibly be happy when the weather was this way. All the time.
“Hey, sweetie,” he said to me, then leaned to kiss my mother on the cheek. “Hi, Laura. How was the plane ride?”
“Oh, it was great,” I said sarcastically.
“Glad to hear it. But you better not have that attitude at my house, or you’re in for some trouble.”
My dad always loved to kid around. But I knew he never really meant anything by it; he just liked to have fun, which was okay with me.
Then we were silent for the rest of the ride to my dad’s house, mom and I simply gazing out the windows while my dad concentrated on driving. Pretty soon I could no longer see through the rain-spattered windows. And apparently, neither could my mom.
“Lindsey,” she said to me. I looked up abruptly, jolted from my daydreams.
“Huh?”
“When we get there, take your bag upstairs and unpack. Dad will tell you which room can be yours.”
I nodded and agreed vaguely, but was lost in something else. The simple way that everybody in Seattle carried umbrellas with them everywhere they went. It must have been pretty normal here, but it was strange and unfamiliar to me. I chuckled as we passed groups of teenagers—probably about my age—walking, their heads completely covered by their umbrellas. That would be me and my friends once the school year started—if I made any friends.
Iknow, it sounds like twilight, but it is FAR from a vampire story.
"back of the book" description:
When my dad's job moved my family all the way across the country from Florida to Seattle, I was devastated. I didn't want to go, and I wasnt about to. But I had no choice. I went from sunny Florida to overcast Washington is no time. But my biggest problem was that it was the summer before high school, and I left behind all my old friends, everything I knew. Sure, I have nothing against rain, just the wet, gloomy shadow it casts over me. And the things you wouldn't expect to lurk in that shadow...
Question #9:
What are labor laws in Florida regarding a right to days off?
My husband is a truck driver and he is exhausted working for this company that never lets him have a day off. He hauls liquids and works "locally", according to the company, just because he stays within the state of Florida. Nevertheless, they work him like crazy, sometimes one month straight, without 1 day off... including pressing him to go over his driving hours permitted per day. They are only concerned with the money they are making, never mind the driver's needs to rest and spend time with the family. My husband sometimes gets 2 to 4 hours a night sleep (in the truck), and I am very concerned that one day he's going to fall asleep driving and wind up hurting him and someone else on the road. If he mentions he needs one day off, the dispatchers insinuate that they can always get someone else to do his job... and right now my husband just cannot quit because he's looking for another job but hasn't been able to find anything. I'm working and going to school, trying my best as well, but I feel that there must be some laws that protect the rights of workers regarding taking days off, especially hard-working truck drivers. Where can I find these laws? If he is fired for refusing to work over the hours or because they refuse to give him a day off, what can we do legally? Thank you!Question #10:
How do you obtain your Florida CDL?
My boyfriend is interested in obtaining his Florida CDL class B or maybe even A but he hasn't drove big trucks that much.I know he would do fine with the written tests, but what comes after that?
Anyone recommend a good school or training course where he may possibly be able to drive the trucks and get prepared for the exam?
I am in Melbourne, FL area and he would be able to take time off work to obtain his license. We are hoping this will get him away from working with my nightmare of a mother-in-law and her business.
He wants to drive dump trucks and there is a lot of work for that here. I'm not sure he's into the whole traveling cross country but more local. Or water deliveries, Hazmat, Waste Management, Ect.
Question #11:
Can I get a local truck driving job in Jacksonville Florida at 20 years old?
I finished truck driving school and I have my CDLQuestion #12:
I got a speeding ticket in Florida...?
I got a speeding ticket in Lakeland Florida, and I didn't choose to do schooling to remove my points because of too much trouble it gave me, they are asking me to do lots of things, to call NY DMV ask for policy and everything etc etc...When I got a speeding ticket, my license is just a learner's permit (I am accompanied that time by a professional driver) the officer gave me a fine of $266 for speeding. I just paid the fine and choose not to do schooling. My learner's permit is New York the time I got citation, then after couple of months I went to Florida DMV to get my actual driver's license, I passed the driving test and eventually got my own driver's license.
My question is, since my license is "learner's permit" the time I got citation and it was from New York, does the points still remain in my Florida Driver's License? How long it will remain, if it will, in my record since I didn't choose to do schooling?
I am asking this questions because I am planing to buy my own car, I know this might give a huge effect in my insurance and I am thinking to get a CDL or to be a truck driver soon.
I hope somebody can help me in this questions... Thank you so much!

What can we do about the killing of American citizens by illegal aliens under the influence?
Of course, pro-illegal supporters will be the first to say that "Many more Americans are killed by citizens". CARMEL — An illegal immigrant who was driving with no license and a blood-alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit when he plowed into and killed a Southeast mother and daughter received the maximum sentence Wednesday of 8 1/3 to 25 years in state prison.
Conses Garcia-Zacarias, 35, who has been held in the Putnam County jail since the June 8 fatalities, pleaded guilty in November to two counts of vehicular homicide in the deaths of Lori Donohue, 37, and her 8-year-old daughter, Kayla. The second-grader and her mother were leaving the girl's dance class at Seven Stars School of Performing Arts in Brewster when Garcia-Zacarias struck them with a pickup truck.
The act instantly took away half of the Donohue family, leaving Robert Donohue and his 5-year-old son, Christopher, grieving for the wife and mother, sister and daughter they lost.
"Explaining to my 5-year-old son that he can never again hug and kiss his mommy and sister has been devastating to him, me and our whole family," Donohue told the court Wednesday.
Donohue was accompanied in Putnam County Court by more than two dozen friends and family members who took up four of the six rows in the courtroom.
Lori Donohue's father, John Luhrs, 70, of Bethel, Conn., also gave a victim-impact statement. He placed photos of his daughter and granddaughter on the prosecutor's table before looking up at Putnam County Judge James Rooney and saying, "Your Honor: A parent's worst nightmare."
Lori Donohue grew up in Yonkers and rose through the ranks at Dorian Drake International Inc. in Harrison, where she worked as a sales manager. Kayla attended JFK Elementary School, played softball and swam. She was a Girl Scout and had been collecting cookies to send to troops in Iraq when she was killed.
Kayla Donohue was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:35 p.m. crash while Lori Donohue was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, where she later died.
In an instant, all of our lives drastically changed," Luhrs said. "Our hearts are absolutely broken — no, our hearts have been ripped out."
The deaths grieved and outraged the community and reignited the debate about illegal immigration, drinking and driving, and the hiring of undocumented workers.

Garcia-Zacarias worked on horse farms in the U.S. for several years and the white, F-350 Ford pickup truck with Florida plates he was driving that night was registered to Valerie Renihan, a horse trainer who leased the house on Tonetta Lake Road in Southeast where Garcia-Zacarias and several other men were living.
Renihan, whose Facebook page said in June that she was working out of Staysail Farm in North Salem, has said through an attorney that she never gave Garcia-Zacarias permission to use the truck and that he got drunk that day and stole the keys.
Neighbors said he and the other men living in the rented house regularly used the vehicle.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Christopher York said the criminal investigation is open and active.
Rooney said Garcia-Zacarias told a probation officer that he was so drunk the evening of June 8 he did not remember the fatal crash.
Police say he sped down the wrong side of Brewster's Main Street and barreled through a T intersection at routes 6 and 22. The truck crossed the narrow parking area dividing the road from the dance school building and ran over Lori and Kayla Donohue as other horrified parents, children and instructors stood nearby.
Through an interpreter, Garcia-Zacarias expressed remorse and talked about how his actions have hurt his own family.
"I apologize to the family and I ask forgiveness. It was not my intention and it's something that could happen to any of us," he said. "I ask them to forgive me. I have my two daughters over there (in Guatemala) who are also suffering because of this."
Garcia-Zacarias will serve his sentences on the two counts of vehicular homicide concurrently, or at the same time, as stipulated by the law, Rooney said.
"Do not look to me for forgiveness," Rooney told him in imposing the maximum. "God may grant you mercy, Mr. Zacarias, but this court will not."
Garcia-Zacarias faces deportation to his native Guatemala after serving his time.
Donohue said his family would fight any effort by Garcia-Zacarias to shorten his sentence.
"At every parole hearing he has, he will see our faces," Donohue said
Question #14:
Issues with brother How should I handle them?
Ok this is s story that might get ya in tears mabie not,Started at a young age I had 2 older brother and a drunk abusive father Brother 1 Phil brother 2 scott so that way no one gets confused.
Brother 1 got a job at 16 bought me all my clothes and my first crib. I then moved to NY with my mother and scott while philip stayed in Florida Scott is a skitsofric and molested me at age 3-7
My mother did nothing about it. Meanwhile my dad was still in florida as well. Philip drove up to NY I was 7 he was 25 I lived with him for a few years and was doing great he made sure I went to school did my homework with me bought me beautiful expensive clothes until age 12 By the way He had a multi million dollar business.
My mother then moved to Florida with scott got back with my dad and kept me in the house alone with my scott that molested me and every ight my dad came home druk beating verbally, metally abusing my mother as well as scott the skytco. Everyday when I would come home from school I would wait outside for hours until she got home from work because I was scared to be alone with him in the house.
Philip lost his relashionship with his partner starting going out partying and using drugs and before he was straight as a arrow no drugs at all. So then eventuallly he lost his business cars etc... The last thing he bought me was when I was 15 A car that my boyfriend had bought me had taken it back well philip ended up giving him some money and got the car back for me. Until I was 13 we has huge christmas with tons and tons of gifts that philip bought the entire family He bought furtiture clothig everything for me and my mom to survive.
So Scott the skitso smashed his head into the wall and ended up paralized he had trie committed suiside several times he even slit his wrist wide ope in front of his 8 year old son my mothr was takig care of him still after this had happend Scott lied ad told everyone that his girlfried pushed him into the wall which I kow is bullshit because he used to always smash his head into thigs whe he was mad. So I was 16 living with my mom scott and scotts son (my nephew) I was old enough to relize all the abuse and the violionce that was going on Scott was calling his son a piece of shit at age 8 abusing my mom yes in a wheelchair calling her all types of names throwig food on the floor while she was picking it up he would talk down to her. Wake her up at 3 am in the morning to go to the store and get him ciggerettes and would scream so loud the neighbors would hear. She would get up and do it. Me and him would get into fights because I would try and protect me ad my mom and she would kick me out at 16! So I started living with boyfriends for several years I would need to go back and stay with her and the same situation would occur I would protect her and she would kick me out Even though he molested me she kicked me out. So I would be living with boyfrieds ever called her for help she never called me to see how I was doing or if I was even alive.
Meanwhile Philip is living off my mom now she is paying for his rent utilities everything but he gets kicked out of every complex within 2 months because all the money she was giving him went to his drugs he would always make up lies says he has o clothes he needs money so My mom would give him her last dollar that she had so he could get his fix that she did not want to believe . Also when they had no food if she had 5 dollars to her name she would buy scott ciggerettes rather then put food on the table for my nephew.
I would have to buy my nephew all his birthday and holiday presents I would help her with gas I lent her my boyfriend mersades truck for 6 months without giving us a dime we didnt even ask for money but when we asked for it back she got mad.
She tells me I have done so much for you. I have rarely lived with her since 13 I dont call her for anything Now that I have a toddler she still doesnt even come to visit she is afraid to leave scott alone for 2 days when he is capable to be by himself He has a nurse and now my nephew is 16 My mom has excuse after excuse to not come up here my fiance parents even bought her a truck and she doesnt even pay them for it.
So my brother philip has been deathly sick for over 10 years and has been in the hospital for 1 week he actualy called me because he doesnt want anything to do with the family now that my mom is out of money and can not pay his habit and I have my own family to take care of . My mother and I both offered for him to come live with us he refuses to leave atlanta. I have let him live in my apartment when he first lost his money and he was treating me like shit and couldnt help with the bills so I lost the apartment Philip refuses to work. And hates the world he blames me for buying me all the things he did when I was younger and says I dont do anything for him after all he did for me.
I was so young I didnt know who was supposed to take care of me.

Question #17:
I have been trying and failing to drown out my thoughts with iPod music. (Prepare for a shock)?
Okay, here's how it goes. My friend...let's call him Derek...is 17, I'm 15. He's really quiet, he doesn't speak much, but he's really fun to be around withstanding that. He's just an all-around cool person. I recently developed a little bit of a crush on him. Well today in group therapy (we go to a therapeutic school for trauma and crap) he told me and a few others that a few years back when he was 14, he met a 17-year-old guy on myspace that he became friends with. Apparently they hung out quite a bit. He said that he wanted to run away from home, and this friend took him in his SUV and was going to drive him down to Florida. Well, somewhere along the way they got in a 4-mile car chase with the police that ended up on I-95, and this guy switched into the traffic heading the opposite direction and came head-on with a truck at 120 MPH. He was decapitated instantly, my friend was thrown 50 feet from the vehicle and suffered a broken neck. I know this is all true, besides, I saw a picture of him with the neck brace in the hospital. Well, then he said that his friend turned out to be a 27-year-old registered sex offender. Apparently it was a suicide and attempted homicide (the car crash) because the guy was facing a court date on that Tuesday to be sentenced. I said, "Wow, well you're lucky you didn't get where he was going." And another girl said, "Yeah, he could have raped you." And he looks at me and laughs and says, "I'm not lucky." and goes on to tell us that he was raped by that man the night before. Apparently he was in shock, and got in the car the next day anyway. I know this is all true for complicated reasons. But the thing is, I came home from school and immediately couldn't stop thinking about it. I tried everything to drown out my thoughts: playing music, listening to music, talking to friends, beading. Nothing helped. I'm still sitting here, depressed and horrified and feeling all-around terrible for him, especially since I care about him. I don't know what to do. Pleaseee help.Question #18:
Do you like the beginning of my novel?
UntitledBy: Caroline McIsaac
My mother drove me to the airport with the windows rolled down. There was a slight chill to the air so I wrapped my brown fleece jacket around my waist. I was going to visit my dad in *Vermont since I had stopped seeing him a few years earlier, because, well, I didn't feel the need to and because I didn't think he was my real father due to the fact that he wasn't listed on my birth certificate, for what reason, I still do not know even though I would beg my mom to tell me countless hours of the day, every day last year. So, I called him by his first name, *Jim. My mom still called him Blue*, her nickname for him in college, which just so happens to be my middle name which I thought was a little odd due to the fact that they had separated when I was only 3 months old, how could they do that to me, ask them.
"You can always come back, to *Florida, I mean." My mom looked like me except with red hair and laugh line.
"I'll be fine mom, promise." I lied, looking into her doe-like eyes, well, at least it was sincere?
"Tell your father I say hi."
"I will." She hugged me tightly for a moment and let go as I got on the plane and she was gone. I hate flying. It's a five-hour flight from the little town in Florida to the even littler town in Vermont; did I mention that I hate flying? The last time I flew anywhere was to California with my dad over summer break and in the time it took to get there and get back to Florida, I had already finished off a bottle of aspirin, yeah, I'm addicted, so what? Anyways, I was worried about seeing Jim. Even though he seemed fairly pleased with the idea of me coming to live with him again, I knew he was worried too; he had told my mom that he thought I was going to leave him again like I did well over four years ago, but she reassured him that I was staying, until further notice, which is like when, next week? My mom had told me to give me a sort-of progress report every other week, and said that it would be "our little secret." Wow mom, wow. My dad had enrolled me in high school nearby and promised to help me get a car that was fairly used. It was a public school, but we had to wear uniforms, not like the polo's and plaid skirts, actually, we could wear anything we wanted, they just said that so fancy-smancy parents would think it was some kind of prep school. Anyways, their "dedication" would save me an hour in the morning. I could just roll out of bed and head out the door nowadays, but I wasn't like that. I wanted to have some order in my life, whether I could handle it or not. When I landed in Vermont it was snowing, oh joy. I bundled up and poured on all the layers I could fit over my head before I left the plane which made me look like a penguin as I managed to walk over to Jim's car, parked a couple feet away which I noticed was still the same ol' rusty truck he had had four years ago, that was like him. I struggled to give him a one armed hug, as he commented on how much I had grown and then, "Did you cut your hair?"
"Yeah," I said, "I got bangs." and then I grinned. Wait, did I actually feel welcomed? I guess you could say so.
"So Tibs, what's up? How's school?" What a lame question.
"Good." I replied,
"That's good, see I remember the last time you were here you hated school," he chuckled.
"That was a long time ago, J- I mean dad."
"I know, I know." he said, looking up at the cat-vomit colored sky.
"Soooo," I implied, "How's work?" I asked, trying to seem interested. "Works, works good," he said, kicking a stone. That was a lie. He worked at a publishing house, he hated it.
"That's good," I said looking down at my shoes.
"Everyone's so excited to see you, Tibs!"
"Everyone?" I mumbled.
"What was that?"
"Nothing."
Jim and I drove around a little bit in is truck until we got to his house. He was giving me a tour of the city and promised he would take me to New York someday soon which I was kind of happy about. I'd never been to New York; I wondered what it'd be like. He showed me the diner where we used to eat every night, the library that was always looking for donations and volunteers, the gas station that I would hopefully be using to fill up my car and of course, the high school. It was bigger than I expected and had two floors, and about a few dozen windows. I would be starting tomorrow in the middle of the semester, which I was worried about. I wondered if anyone would recognize me, probably not. I had actually forgotten if I had had any friends or not, it was so long ago that I roamed the halls of Manchester Middle School, I wondered if anyone would recognize me, I was kind of hoping that they wouldn't though. "Do you want me to drive you to your first day tomorrow?" Jim interrupted.
"Uh sure, that'd be nice," I lied giving him the thumbs up.
He smiled and then said, "It's good to have you back Tibs."
"You too dad, you too," and then we drove away into the bitterly cold fog of Vermont.

Question #19:
Suspended license and CDL training?
My driver's license was suspended about one year ago b/c I failed to pay a speeding ticket in the time allotted. That occurred in Florida, and I live in Alabama. Will this affect my going to truck driving school if that's the only thing on my record for the past 3-5 years. I'm only 23 so there is nothing before that. I started driving at 18.For the record. My license is no longer suspended. My license was suspended in April of 2008 and reinstated in July of 2008. I neglected to mention that earlier.
